Boat Parts

Boat Motor parts by the thousands

As we look ahead to the 2010 boating season, we are stocking our shelves full
of parts.  Our parts manager, Tim, tells me he is adding over 50 new parts
to our inventory each day.  That is in addition to the boat parts he is
stocking that we already carry.  US Boatworks recently made a huge
acquisition of Mercury and Mercruiser Sterndrive parts that are due to arrive
any day.  Tim and Ron should be busy for the rest of December checking the
parts in and listing them on our inventory program.

If you are looking for hard to find Mercury outboard or Mercruiser sterndrive
parts, we may just have what you are looking for.  Our inventory changes
dramatically from month to month, even in the winter months.  Contact Tim at 913-342-0011 if you have further questions.  You can also
email us at parts@boatengine.com.

Mercury Lower Units

Mercury
Lower Units

During the off season our mechanics are rebuilding lower units.  One
mechanic rebuilds Mercury lower units so he is specialized in your Mercury
motor.  Another mechanic builds
remanufactured Evinrude lower units

and Johnson gear cases.  Finally we have a third mechanic who specializes
in
OMC and Mercruiser sterndrives

Our mechanics have over 15 years experience each.  Our inventory continues
to grow so if we do not have your lower in stock, we can build it to your exact
specifications in just a few days.  We ship our lower units all over the
country.  To keep shipping costs low for our consumer, we only charge you
our cost to get the unit to your door.

If you are looking for quality in your rebuilt lower unit, US Boatworks is
your answer.     Contact Mike at 913-342-0011 if you have further questions.  You can also

We buy old boat parts and salvage marine inventory

Many marine dealers sell off their older boat part inventory at the end of
the season.  Often times dealers will be going out of business or just need
some cash in the winter months, this is a great time for us to buy.  US
Boatworks buys surplus inventory from marine and boat dealers throughout the
year.

We are always looking for used
lower unit
cores
from Mercury, Evinrude, Johnson, Mercruiser, OMC and Volvo.

Salvage marine gearcases
are
something we almost will always purchase from a dealer.  Last year we were
able to buy about 50 lower unit cores from a dealer.  This was great timing
as during the winter months we rebuild the gearcases so they are ready for sale
in the spring when our customers need them.  US Boatworks is a major
supplier of
remanufactured lower units
and

new marine gearcases
.  We
constantly are turning our inventory so new items are always needed.

If you are looking to liquidate some or all of your marine inventory, we may
be able to help.   Contact Mike at US Boatworks at 913-342-0011 if you have further questions.  You can also
email us at parts@boatengine.com

25 Year Anniversary

2009 is US Boatworks' 25 year anniversary.  Back in 1984, Marty started
US Boatworks from his garage.  His idea was to improve on the service boat
dealers offer.

First, boat dealers do not offer the option for using used parts in their
repairs.
  US Boatworks specializes in
used, salvage boat parts
for your marine needs.  The parts are inspected to insure they are in good
shape.  They also always come from fresh water engines, so there is no
worry about salt water corrosion.  We sell and ship these parts all over
the country so feel free to ask about purchasing used parts for your boat motor.

Secondly, boat dealers have a minimal inventory of boat parts on hand
What this means for you is two fold.  One, you wait for the dealer to order
your parts to fix your motor which can add days or even weeks to your repair
turn around.  And two, manufacturers stop making parts for their engines
after a certain number of years.  If that is the case, you are out of luck
getting that part from your dealer.  US Boatworks has over

25,000 different boat engine parts in stock

that means faster turn around time on your repair.  It also means you can
ask about almost any Evinrude, Johnson, Mercury, Mercruiser, Volvo-Penta marine
part and odds are that we have it in stock for you.

Third, boat dealers had huge overhead so offering

Kansas City area discount boat repair
service
is just not possible
.  US Boatworks is able to offer
labor rates discounted from what most area boat dealers offer because our
overhead is low.

Marty's dream to be a major retailer of boat parts and service has become
reality.  Hard to imagine 25 years ago what a great concept he had.
We miss you Marty!

Contact Mike or Tim at US Boatworks at 913-342-0011 if you have further questions
about parts or service on your outboard or stern drive marine engine.  You can also
email us at parts@boatengine.com

Marine Winterization and Boat Parts

Winterization under way

Our lot is full to the brim with

Kansas City area
boats
to winterize.  Many boaters decided to get their boats in for service
early this year due to the cold weather in Kansas and Missouri.
Our customers choose US Boatworks for our great rates and outstanding
reputation.   Each winterization is personally performed by one
mechanic from beginning to end.  Rest assured that your motor will be
properly winterized and safe from the upcoming freeze.

Another reason our
customers choose US Boatworks is because we offer

boat parts that are hard to
find
.  Parts for older boats that are not longer made are stocked by the
thousands.  We get people from all over the United States looking for
marine parts.  Most of our

old boat parts
are
NLA - No Longer Available
marine parts

from the manufacturer.  Once a manufacturer stops producing parts that fit
your boat, it can be very difficult or impossible to fix your motor.

The major brand boat parts we carry are

Mercury Marine, Mercruiser, OMC Cobra,
Johnson, Evinrude and Mariner
.  Our lower unit replacement
program offers you two choices.  Choose a new lower unit or a
remanufactured lower unit by visiting our site.

For more information on any of
these products or service send us an email at
parts@boatengine.com or call us M-F
9-5 CST at 913-342-0011.  TIm, Ron or Mike are happy to help you with your
boat repair or maintenance needs.

Marine Engine Parts

More Marine Parts coming soon...

We at US Boatworks carry tens of thousands of different
boat parts.  Most
of our inventory consists of older boat parts from Mercury, Evinrude, OMC,
Mercruiser, Johnson, Force and Volvo-Penta as well as current model marine parts
from these manufacturers.   If you are having a hard time finding the
boat engine part you need, chances are that US Boatworks has it.  We have
room in our 50,000 square foot building to store these parts.  A lot of
boat dealers don't have the space or the desire to stock older boat parts.
That's where US Boatworks,
www.BoatEngine.com
, comes in.  We buy these older parts and stock them
to serve our customers and meet a need for them to be able to repair older boat
motors.  One way we are able to stock these

old boat parts
is through
salvage.  We often times part out a old motor and thus sell them as
used boat parts
Many customers appreciate the opportunity to buy
salvage boat parts as it
usually saves the customer money to buy

used marine parts
over buying new
marine parts.  Since we are continually buying parts, our inventory changes
quickly from day to day.  If we don't have a part this week, we may just
stock it a few weeks later.

To check our inventory, contact Tim or Mike at US Boatworks at 913-342-0011
or

welcome the opportunity to help you in your boat parts search.

Replacing Evinrude Lower Unit

Happy Customers

I wanted to pass on an email from a satisfied customer in Canada.  He purchased a
remanufactured lower unit for his Evinrude outboard motor and is very happy.
Just an example of why you can feel confident in purchasing an
outdrive or any stern
drive or outboard boat
parts
from US Boatworks,
www.BoatEngine.com
.We go the extra mile to take care of our customers.

Here is his first email regarding receiving his lower unit with a new
impellor:

Hi Mike

I just picked up the lower unit today and opened up the box and
found it to be in excellent order.  I also noted on the invoice that it
states that a new water pump was installed at no charge.  Thank you very
much if this has indeed occurred.  Can you confirm that the water
pump/impellor has been replaced.  I do not want to open it up and
disturb it if I do not have to.  I'm sure you can understand that.  This
was on the lower unit ordered for my 1977 Evinrude 55hp 2 cycl
outboard.

I will be getting the core unit off to you a soon as I can get it
into the box and send it back to you.  I hope that you are not firm on
the return by 10-1-09 date as it will take some time for travel to you
from Canada.  If you have any concerns with regards to the core return
time line please let me know.

Thanks so much for you help.

Mark

His second email to us stating that he is very happy with is
lower unit:

Hi Mike

Just to let you know that I am shipping the unit to you tomorrow
Monday September 28th, 2009.  I hope that this is alright with you
and does not breach the return by date as I had to wait to go and
get it.  I have enclosed a copy of the invoice as well.

I do want to tell you that the unit looks fabulous and the kids
are very happy to be able to get out fishing again.

Thank you so much for your
expertise and help.

A very happy and satisfied customer.

Mark

At home boat motor repair

When it comes to boat motors, we all know there is maintenance and some basic
repairs that can not be avoided.  Always be sure to perform maintenance
recommendations from as suggested by your boat motor manufacturer.  Ask any
boat owner and they will tell you that skipping these maintenance procedures
will end up costing you more in the long run.  If you are comfortable make
some simple repairs around the house, you probably can try some maintenance on
your boat motor at home too.

To begin with, you will need your motor's manual.  These manuals will
describe the recommended maintenance you should perform.  Once you identify
which procedure your motor needs, contact US Boatworks to get the parts for your
boat.  US Boatworks stocks recommended manufacturer boat parts and is happy
to ship these parts (at cost) to you.  You may find some basic parts and
oil at discount stores but be ware, you get what you pay for.  Original
manufacturer outboard motor oil is always recommended.

Can't find your

Mercury, Evinrude, OMC, Mercruiser, Chrysler, Force, Yamaha, Honda Shop Manual

US Boatworks carries Clymer
motor manuals
to assist you in your at home boat repair.  Our
philosophy is to help boaters with do it yourself repairs, other dealers are not
so willing to sell you parts.

Contact Tim at US Boatworks at 913-342-0011 if you have further questions
for Kansas or
Missouri boat repair
on your outboard or stern drive marine engine.  You can also
email us at parts@boatengine.com.

Great- I hit a tree with my boat

The fall fishing season is upon us. I was out at our new Lake Lenexa yesterday and saw plenty of kids catching fish. What a great time they were having in the cool fall evening. While you can only have trolling motors on Lake Lenexa, watching the smaller fishing boats got me to thinking about posting some fishing tips on this blog. I may start the forum so people can chime in on fishing tips.

The biggest fishing tip that I can come up with... If you are fishing in a man made -dam lake, try fishing by the tree stumps. Fish love to hang out around old stumps and logs. In fact, when they made Lake Lenexa they
purposely left stumps, logs and plastic tubes for the marine life. Great for the
fish, great for the fisher, not so great for your outboard motor. Hitting one of these stumps can cause damage to your propeller. That damage is obvious and not too terribly expensive to fix.

What if you damage your outdrive? Damage to your lower unit can get you into some costly repairs. Do your homework before making a decision on what to do. Here is some advice:

First: Be aware that your insurance policy should kick in to repair the outdrive after you fulfill the deductible. US Boatworks works with many insurance
companies and will fight to get your outdrive repaired properly. You can feel
comfortable knowing that the owner personally will see the job through to the
end and will personally talk with the claims adjuster so that all expenses are
understood by the adjuster.  This helps you get a fair reimbursement.

Next: There are two choices to make regarding
your outdrive replacement.  You can choose a new gear case or a
remanufactured gear case.  US Boatworks,
www.boatengine.com carries both new and
rebuilt options.   You can pick a Remanufactured quality gear case made with quality parts or you can choose a Brand New after-market gear case for some Mercury,
Yamaha, Johnson, Evinrude Outboard Motors and

Mercruiser Alpha I
,

Gen II
and

Bravo one
I/O motors
.  No matter which you choose, you can feel comfortable knowing US Boatworks will take care of you.  We have been in the
I/O
Outboard Replacement Drive
business for over 25 years and know your motor inside and out.  We will get your unit to you with the exact specifications you need.  Call us for pricing at 913-342-0011 or get more information below.

Last:  US Boatworks give you a credit for
sending your good used core to us -
outdrive exchange
.  We accept most cores back and pay you based on the
condition of your old marine engine core.  Call us at 913-342-0011 for more
info.

Once again, happy boating.

Old boat parts

Yesterday I made a huge purchase of
old boat parts
. This purchase allows us to provide an amazing stock of boat parts for our customers. US Boatworks specializes in selling older, NLA
boat parts that most boat dealers won't bother with. This is a valuable service to those customers who want to repair their boat motor. After 5 years or so your boat motor manufacturer will not longer produce and
the dealer will no longer sell
boat replacement parts
. That is where we come in. Please call us at 913-342-0011 or email us at parts@boatengine.com if you need
late model boat parts for your
Mercury, Mercruiser, OMC, Evinrude, Johnson or Volvo marine motor. We also offer
used boat parts and
rebuilt outdrives to help you with your repairs.

Monday, busy Monday

They tell me that after Labor Day, the boaters are putting up their boats for
the season, but that is not the case this year.  Our
boat
parts
are flying off the shelves.  Customers are still coming in
from all over Kansas and
Missouri boat repair
.  This
past weekend the boaters were out on the Kansas area lakes because of the sunny
warm weather on Sunday.

One customer who came by today looking for a new outdrive told us he
destroyed the gear case on a tree stump in Smithville lake.  Our
rebuilt outdrive was
the way he went to repair his motor.  We explained the pros and cons of
both our new and
remanufactured outdrives

In this case, he chose the quality of the rebuilt lower unit.  We know he
will be happy with his decision for years to come & should he ever have a
problem with his outdrive, we will be
here.  US Boatworks has been in the boat parts and repair business for over
25 years.   We will be here in the future should you need us again.

Boat Parts Blog back on line

Due to some techincal difficulties, our blog has been down for about 3o days. If I was not so computer challenged it would not have taken 30 days to figure out how to get out blog back on line. But, here it is, the long awaited return of the Boat Parts, Repair and Maintenance Tips blog.

While our blog site was down, boaters were still getting out on the water. Despite a cool August in the Mid-West, boating traffic still remains high. When asking our customers what makes 2009 a better boating year than previous years, we most often hear that getting an existing boat back out on the water for the family vacation is a less expensive way to have family fun that flying somewhere, renting hotel rooms, renting a car...

The key to getting out on the water is preparing your boat each time before you go out. US Boatworks has a great summary of
boat preparation tips
you can check out. Should you find that your boat needs
boat parts or
boat service, check them out as well.
