winterized. Those of you in the Mid-West had better act fast as
the Mid-West is expecting a freeze in the next few days.

New Mercury Marine Spitfire Propeller

Mercury Propellers is proud to introduce “Spitfire,” Mercury’s first four-blade aluminum performance propeller for boaters using 25 hp to 125 hp outboards.
Spitfire provides the best performance in the world of aluminum propellers – in fact, it’s 25 percent faster from 0 to 30 mph than Mercury’s best-selling Black Max propeller, and there’s no penalty in top speed.

Key to Spitfire’s performance is its four-blade design. Four blades allow Mercury Marine engineers to increase the blade area of the propeller while keeping the diameter low, which allows the propeller to spin up quickly and improve acceleration.

The low-diameter, high-blade-area design was borrowed from Mercury’s top-of-the-line stainless steel Fury and Enertia propellers. Spitfire was designed from the ground up to be the best-handling aluminum propeller on the market. Spitfire features an extra cup design coupled with a straight trailing edge – similar to cleaver propellers used on race boats. Together they hold the water even in the tightest maneuvers.

“There’s a large segment of customers in the pontoon and freshwater fishing market who are comfortable with aluminum propellers but still want maximum performance from of their boat,” said Dirk Bjornstad, brand manager of Mercury Propellers. “Our research shows that these customers place a premium on fast time to plane and solid holding in turns. boating when gas prices are high

We are all frustrated with the high gas prices this month.  At $4.00
per gallon, some of us are scratching our head trying to figure out if we
should get the boat out this year.  Most boaters we polled say they
will be boating this season even if gas prices stay at current rates. 
Fuel prices are about $1.25 more per gallon over last year so when filling
up your boat, you can expect to pay more but is it worth giving up your
favorite sport altogether? 

As we were talking to boaters around town, they did offer us some gas
saving tips.  The best tip for those who rent a slip at a lake and
can't afford to put gas in their boat.  Consider giving up your dock
slip and find a cheaper place to store your boat on land, then you find
savings two ways.  First, storing your boat on its trailer on land is
cheaper than the dock slip.  Second, the gas you put in your boat can
be purchased at a land gas station over the marina gas station saving you
money at the pump.  You can also consider that keeping your boat out of
the water requires less maintenance than that of a boat stored in the water.

Tune up your outboard motor

The sun is finally shining and the promise of warmer temperatures is here. 
Tuning up that outboard motor this spring may be the right weekend project for
you.  US Boatworks has all the boat
parts need to tune up your motor.  Our top sellers are the Evinrude
Carb Kits - item #396701 to 439076.  If these aren't the part numbers you
need, we carry all Carburetor Kits for Mercury and Evinrude Outboard motors. 

Once you have your Carb Kit in hand, you will need some gear lube too.

Evinrude and Mercury
lube.  Other brands are inferior and will only cause you
trouble down the road.  It's worth the extra few bucks now to us genuine
manufacturer oil and save your motor from damage.  Popular part #s are
